Description

This position allows for a hybrid work schedule with a mix of work spent in office and working remote from home.

 

The Project Controls Lead will:

  • Be responsible for the development, implementation, oversight, and management of capital projects processes, procedures, and administrative services to ensure the Project Controls functions are delivered with consistency and quality.
  • Collaborate with the PMO team to achieve the client’s business objectives.
  • Lead the development, maintenance, and continuous improvement of Project Controls best practices and deliverables
  • Manage oversight and performance of portfolio project controls
  • Lead projects in the implementation of project controls processes including forecasting, planning, monitoring, variance analysis, pricing, and reporting
  • Manage, develop, track, and maintain project schedules and budgets
  • Support cost and schedule contingency management, and work with key stakeholders to identify and manage project risks
  • Manage change control process for Projects
  • Support commitments of expenditure on the project and support payment of invoices
  • Provide leadership to the Project Controls Team
  • Prime interface with client and other shareholders
  • Ensure the success of the Project Controls staff through mentoring and training.
  • There is the potential for you to travel to client offices or site locations, as required

Qualifications

Essential skills and experience:

  • 8+ years of Project Controls and Project Management experience, preferably in the energy industry
  • Post-secondary graduate
  • Demonstrated experience in managing multiple complex projects, with full responsibility for the project controls functions in support of capital projects
  • Expert in project scheduling, cost engineering, and project controls methods and tools
  • Demonstrated ability to organize and prioritize work and work under pressure to meet deadlines
  • Computer Skills: Working knowledge in MS Office tools, with emphasis on the advanced use of MS Excel in creating and maintaining detailed, interactive spreadsheets, workbooks, and databases
  • Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a proven ability to interact and multitask with project team members, clients, and vendors of varying position levels
  • Motivation: Eager to cultivate program and project knowledge to make a valuable impact to the PMO team operation. Willing to engage with others to understand PMO team and client needs.
  • Detail-Oriented: Committed to deliver high quality, accurate deliverables with attention to detail

Valued but not required skills and experience:

  • Related work experience, which includes project controls, project planning, project scheduling, and earned value performance, preferably within the power industry
  • i.) AACE CCP, CEP, PSP, PRMP, EVP, or PMI Equivalent
  • ii.) In lieu of Professional Designation (i.) above, has completed equivalent training
  • Or in lieu of i.) or ii.) above, has successfully passed designated proficiency testing
